When we heard the news about Omnivore shutting down and planning to delete all user data on November 30th, we knew we had to act quickly. For many knowledge workers, researchers, and avid readers, their Omnivore library represents years of carefully curated knowledge – bookmarks, highlights, and annotations that have become an integral part of their learning journey.

That's why we immediately got to work building an integration to help Omnivore users preserve their digital knowledge. Today, we're announcing immediate support for importing Omnivore export archives into Rabrain, ensuring that no valuable information is lost in the transition.

Preserving Your Digital Legacy

We understand that switching tools isn't just about moving data – it's about preserving your intellectual journey. Every article or link you've saved tells a story about your learning path. With Rabrain's new Omnivore import feature, we ensure that this story continues uninterrupted.

A Seamless Transition

We've made the migration process as simple as possible:

  1. First, head to Omnivore's account settings page to export your data
  2. Download your export archive
  3. Visit your Rabrain library
  4. Look for the "Upload" button next to the Omnivore icon Import Omnivore data
  5. Select your downloaded archive
  6. Let us handle the rest!

Your entire Omnivore library will be carefully organized into a dedicated collection, making it easy to pick up right where you left off.

More Than Just a New Home

While we're here to help during this transition, we're also excited to show you how Rabrain can enhance your reading and knowledge management experience:

  • AI-Powered Understanding: Our semantic search understands concepts, not just keywords, making it easier to find that article you remember reading about a topic
  • Instant Insights: Get AI-generated summaries of your articles to quickly refresh your memory
  • Interactive Learning: Have conversations with your documents using our RAG technology – ask questions, explore ideas, and make connections

A Free Alternative, Because Knowledge Should Be Accessible

We believe that managing your knowledge shouldn't come with a hefty price tag. That's why we're offering Rabrain as a free alternative, ensuring that Omnivore users have a reliable platform to continue their knowledge journey without worrying about costs.

Looking Forward

While saying goodbye to a familiar tool is never easy, we're committed to making this transition as smooth as possible. We're continuously working on improvements and new features to make Rabrain not just a replacement, but an upgrade to your knowledge management workflow.

We're Here to Help

If you're an Omnivore user looking for assistance with the migration, our team is here to help. Join our Reddit community to connect with other users making the switch, or reach out to our support team with any questions.
